Ognyan Popov

Volt Taxi

After 12 years living and working in Belgium and the Netherlands, Ognyan returned to Bulgaria to focus on one of his side projects that he started abroad: a mobile application that collects all the brochures of retail chains in one place. Soon after, it  became already available in almost all European countries, and a few years later, Netinfo/ NovaTV entered the company as a strategic investor. The company became a leader in Central and Eastern Europe with offices in Warsaw, Budapest, Bucharest and Sofia, and on a monthly basis over 7 mln. users in Europe use the app to plan their purchases.

In December 2019 the business was completely acquired by a German competitor, Oferista Group, as a result of which Ognyan became a shareholder in the German company. A year later, together with their German partners, they sold the entire company to the largest brochure company in Europe. After a short break, Ognyan starts several new initiatives as well as investments in developing companies. Together with a friend, they founded Swipe.bg, a platform for mobile phones with a second life, for which they recently attracted 1.4 million euros in growth capital.

And recently, as a result of over 2 years of work behind the scenes, he launched, together with a partner and a group of investors, the newest taxi company in Sofia, Volt Premium Taxi, which completely changes the ideas of the people of Sofia about what a taxi service can be. The initial investment is over BGN 3 million, with the delivery of more BMW 5-series cars for the same value pending, with plans for more than BGN 10 million investments for 2025.

During all these years, he is a proud member of Power of BG, an informal association of Bulgarian entrepreneurs with an impeccable reputation who help each other on their way to success. He believes that as a nation we can do more and he believes in partnership as a sustainable model for joint business development.
